Penn State welcomed and honored Military Veterans at events held on the University Park campus the morning of Nov. 12.

Jesse Hamilton, a trumpet player in the Penn State Blue Band, performed Taps at the conclusion of a Veterans Day ceremony held at Old Main on the morning of Nov. 12. The event was sponsored by Penn State Student Affairs, Educational Equity, and Finance and Business, and welcomed veterans from Penn State and around the region.

Danielle Dormer, a 2017 Penn State graduate, was honored with a Quilt of Valor during a veterans breakfast held at the HUB-Robeson Center on the morning of Nov. 12. Dormer served in the United States Army and was wounded in Iraq. Presently she is pursuing a masters degree at Penn State.

The Happy Valley Quilt of Honor Foundation provided Quilts of Honor to four veterans during an event held on the morning of Nov. 12 at Penn State’s HUB-Robeson Center. Guests at the event were welcomed to write a note on patchwork that will be used in future quilts and distributed to veterans who have been touched by war.

Mary Bell, an associate professor at the National Defense University in Norfolk, VA, and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, spoke about the important role women have played in the United States Military through the years at a Veterans Day ceremony held Nov. 12 outside Penn State’s Old Main.
